Presstek is a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions for the printing and communications industries. Since its founding in 1987, Presstek’s mission has been to change the way offset printing
is produced. Our environmentally sustainable solutions make it easier to meet the increasing demand
for high-quality, faster turnaround printing while improving profit margins.
From 1987 to 2004, Presstek was a technology provider, partnering with the industry’s largest press manufacturers and distribution networks. During this time, Presstek DI technology (laser, thermal imaging media, and press design) enabled presses from Ryobi, Heidelberg, Xerox, KBA, and Kodak to accept digital files. The most notable Presstek-enabled product was the Heidelberg QuickMaster DI. During this period, Presstek was also the first to develop and bring to market chemistry-free CTP and is still an industry leader in this area.
In 2004, Presstek acquired ABDick and Precision Lithograining. The acquisition of Precision Lithograining allowed us to strengthen our plate manufacturing capability, enhancing our ability to meet our customers’ current and future needs. By acquiring ABDick, with its proud tradition of 120 years of printing innovation, its great depth of understanding of the industry, and its large customer base, Presstek gained access to a direct sales and service force that enabled us to transition from an OEM model to a direct go-to-market strategy. This allowed us to partner directly with our customers in North America and Europe, helping them to select the best solutions to make their business more capable, profitable and competitive. In addition, Presstek has established a robust dealer network in Asia, Latin America and certain European countries to extend its offerings to printing operations worldwide.
Today, Presstek is the holder of over 400 patents, has been the recipient of many GATF InterTech awards and has been recognized by numerous other industry sources for innovation in business and technology.
Presstek DI digital offset presses bridge the gap between toner and conventional offset printing, enabling printers to cost effectively meet increasing customer demand for high quality, short run color printing with a fast turnaround time while providing improved profit margins.
Presstek’s CTP portfolio ranges from two-page to eight-page systems, many of which are fully automated. These systems support Presstek’s line of chemistry-free plates as well as Aeon, a no preheat thermal plate which offers run lengths up to one million impressions when baked. Presstek also offers a range of workflow solutions, pressroom supplies, and reliable service. Presstek is well positioned to support printing operations of all sizes on a worldwide basis.
Presstek is an active leader and participant in the industry. The Company sponsors many industry associations on a national and local level, with several members of its leadership team actively serving on association boards. Presstek also supports industry trade shows and conferences around the world, both directly and in partnership with its dealer network.
